Annual Derry-Knock Peace Walk – 17th July 2015

For many years the annual Derry-Knock peace walk has passed through our parish. The crowd has increased in recent years and our hall committee has always opened our doors to welcome the walkers. Today we again welcomed about 160 participants, which included the music ministry group, team drivers and the first aid group alongside the group that look after  food and sleeping arrangements. Today they have walked from Ballyshannon and now continue to Carraroe Hall on the South side of Sligo town, where they will rest for the night.

Our sincere thanks to Cliffoney Hall committee for their warm welcome to the walkers & our good wishes go to all those on this pilgrimage to Knock.

We hope for a deeper peace for our Island Nation.

Inismurray – 15th July 2015

Fr. Christy McHugh, Fr. Frank Fahy & Bishop John Flemming were at Inismurray on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

On this special feast day we celebrated the renewal of vows of chastity, obedience and poverty with the three members of the Holy Hill Hermitage, Skreen, Co. Sligo which took place around the Eucharist.

The weather was fantastic the sea was calm which made it possible to make the trip, as the conditions of time and tide are very restrictive which make the pilgrimage to Inismurray precarious.

The Holy Hill Three came well equipped with food and beverages for all and a filling picnic was enjoyed by all.
